Tien Sa to become tourism port

(National Times)- By 2022, Tien Sa Port in Da Nang City will be transferred into a tourism port.

According to the development plan of Da Nang port system, by 2020 – 2025, the cargo handling capacity in Tien Sa Port will reach from 10 to 12 million tons. Da Nang City has implemented the 2nd phase of the project on Tien Sa Port’s expansion with the total investment of over 1,000 billion VND - which is expected to complete in the end of 2017.

By 2022, Tien Sa Port will be transferred into a tourism port. Meanwhile Lien Chieu port will also be developed as an alternative to ease congestion at the overloaded Tien Sa Port.

Tien Sa is a deep water port with the navigation depth of 11m. The total length of its wharf is 1,205 m with five berths. The port is able to receive tankers of up to 40,000 DWT and container ships of up to 2,000 TEUs, as well as cruise ships of up to 75,000 GRT.

Tien Sa port is one of the few ports in Viet Nam that will be able to meet criteria to become a world-class seaport.
