Cultural, sporting events mark VN-Cambodia diplomatic ties
The Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia and the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation co-organised a cultural and sporting exchange event, in Phnom Penh on June 16, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties (June 24).
Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador Thach Du said that 2017 marks an important milestone in the two countries’ relations. Therefore, the joint organisation of the celebration activities aims to make the two countries’ people, especially younger generations, understand more about their time-honoured friendship and solidarity.
Minister of State of the Cambodian ministry, Ung Sean, highly values the bilateral relationship, adding that it has been nurtured incessantly, through the exchange of delegations from the grassroots level to the highest levels.
After the ceremony, the two sides took part in friendly badminton and table tennis matches.
They also took part in traditional Cambodian dances and sang songs praising Vietnam-Cambodia solidarity.
As part of the events to mark the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties, a friendly football match between the two countries’ national U17 teams will take place at the National Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh on June 21.
