Hoi An International Food Festival 2016

(National Times)- An international food festival will be held in Hoi An on March 14 – 20.

Organized by Hoi An People’s Committee in collaboration with Hoi An Culinary Event (HACE), this is an opportunity to promote the city’s culture and tourism to local and foreign visitors.

International chefs from 12 countries including Germany, Russia, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Slovenia, Mauritius, Italy, France, Greece, India and the UK will bring their national food to some of Hoi An’s best restaurants. The restaurants themselves will be themed to a specific country with décor, food, music and costume reflecting the participating country.

The chefs will be showcasing their excellent techniques to recreate their traditional dishes using locally sourced Vietnam ingredients. They will also participate in several workshops with local chefs to exchange experience and techniques in cooking.  

On the opening and closing days, all dishes made by the international chefs will be presented to visitors at Hoi An Sculpture Garden.

With approximately 120,000 inhabitants, Hoi An is recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The city is an exceptionally well-preserved example of a South-East Asian trading port dating from the 15th to the 19th century. In the 16th century, Hoi An was considered as the largest port in Vietnam with the presence of many international ships. 

The city is well known by its diversity in culture. Hoi An’s cuisine has been honored in prestigious international magazine for many times.
