Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam speaks at the Vietnam ICT Summit on September 6.

The survey also found that 58.7 per cent of enterprises have studied the issue but don’t know how to properly prepare for the opportunities and impacts, while only 6.1 per cent have not learned anything and don’t know how to prepare.

Assessing the strengths of Vietnam regarding Industry 4.0, the survey identified three strengths: human resources (77.7 per cent), government awareness and determination (70.4 per cent), and IT and telecommunication infrastructure (59.1 per cent).

This year’s summit was attended by 650 national and international delegates. Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam affirmed the importance of preparations for Industry 4.0 and emphasized efforts to build IT infrastructure, especially broadband infrastructure and taking 4G towards 5G.

Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan confirmed the ministry’s determination to implement Directive No. 16/CT-TTg from the Prime Minister. It will develop and propose policies to ensure the development of digital infrastructure, safeguard the national information system, create a favorable business environment, and support startups in the sector.

In particular, the Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIC) recommended that the government and the Ministry of Education and Training promote educational reform in order to develop high quality human resources to take advantage of opportunities from Industry 4.0.

The Vietnam ICT Summit is a national and global summit on IT policy that was first held in 2011 and is organized annually by VINASA, with sponsorship from MoIC.

The summit annually delivers messages about policies and technology and recommendations to the Party, the government, management agencies, the business community, and society in order to promote the application and development of IT.
