Viet Nam and UK join hand to develop the cultural industry

(National Times) – On October 19, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien greeted Lord Puttnam, the Prime Minister's UK Trade and Cultural Envoy.


At the greeting day, Minister Nguyen Ngoc Thien is happy to inform Lord Puttnam about the cultural industry development strategy. Accordingly, the Ministry will select cinema industry as a main focus on the strategy.

The Minsiter believed that the cultural industry is a new field for Viet Nam and expressed his expectancy to share some experiences of cultural development between Viet Nam and the UK.

About sports, the Minister showed that Viet Nam's sports, especially footbal would develop under a cooperation between two nations. Viet Nam expected to receives more supports from the United Kingdom at the training courses.

About tourism, the UK’s tourists into Viet Nam have increased. The Viet Nam Government will implement electronic visa on January 01, 2017 and hopes to attract more the amount of tourists into Viet Nam.

About copyright, the Minister Thien also hoped the UK would help Viet Nam to implement writers’ copyright and relevant rights.

Addressing at the meeting, Lord Puttnam also shared that the UK’s cultural industry had developed. The UK is ready to help Viet Nam train some talents in the field.

Lord Puttnam noted Viet Nam’s cultural development strategy focused on cinema industry is good. Investing into talents and production plays an important role into the strategy.

Minister Nguyen Ngoc Thien thanked love and sharing of Lord Puttnam. He expressed his belief in a cooperating relationship between Viet Nam and the UK in terms of culture, sports and tourism.
